I bought my first kit, and it came with easy clean. I ask the guy at my LHBS. I talked to the store owner and ask what sanitizer he used. He said that he used easy clean. I ask is that a sanitizer, he said it was. Is it or is it not. It is LD Carlson Easy Clean, I ask if I should use star-san he says that he uses easy clean.

Officially Easy Clean is a cleanser, not a sanitizer, although I think a lot of people use it as one.

I wouldn't risk it. take a look at the similar threads below.

If you really don't want to buy star-san or the like, you could email the company. but I would suggest spending the extra and knowing that you're good to go.

If reasonable cleanliness is observed sanitizing may be unnecessary. After all, people were making beer for a thousand years before the first microbe was observed. i.e. they did it without sanitizing. That being said, a good sanitizer is extra insurance and is now used by most brewers.

Easy Clean is as stated above just a cleaner for beer and wine equipment. I use an Iodophor solution to sanitize all equipment after using Easy Clean.

Their "One Step" product is listed as a Cleaner/Sanitizer
