I am brewing an AG cream stout from a Midwest kit, it included 8 oz. of lactose.
I want a sweet stout, how much would you add for a 5 gallon batch?
I have searched a lot of forums, most go with 1 lb.
If you want sweeter, go for the full 16oz (1#) in 5 gallons.
The lactose isn't really very sweet, it provides more mouthfeel though. If you want the stout sweeter you can do that with the 8oz lactose you have and mash at a higher temp like 156-158.
