Default Corn Sugar Starter???

Is it possible to make a starter with just water and corn sugar? I have heard of people doing it but thought i'd get a few more opnions on it. Thanks in advance.

Go to any Grocer and buy Malta Goya and mix it 50/50% with water and you have a 1.030+/- starter

I wouldn't. Doing a starter with corn sugar will put the yeast into a fermentation phase that is not ideal for fermenting wort.
