Default Completely random (silly) question - (yeast vortex)

Just a fun little question that I've been wondering about. I've noticed that during fermentation, when I look closely at the carboy, there's an occasional "hurricane" of yeast activity that leaves me wondering what the yeasties are going so crazy over. Basically just a spiral of yeast that looks...like a hurricane! I'm not spawning any deep-space vortex wormhole black holes of doom in my beer am I?

You might be? But then again it could just be a healthy fermentation!

More fun than watching a front loading washing machine, if you ask me.

Fermentation is an exothermic process (creates heat), so what you are seeing is convection caused by warmer and cooler spots in the fermentor!
