Question for the real experts...
I have read a few threads about using an aquarium pump to oxygenate wort, with many concerns about contamination and/or controlling foam. Couldn't this be done to the water before preparing the wort? Or would the boil dissipate any oxygen that was introduced prior?

If you're concerned about contamination, you might consider using a sanitary filter inline between the pump and wort:

Sanitary Filter | MoreBeer

It won't help control the foam, but it should address sanitization concerns.

I've been using an aquarium pump with a filter for years. No problems with contamination or excessive foaming.
