Default brew pot

I got an old aluminum pot, is it ok to use aluminum to brew in although some aluminum can oxidize into solution? the pot i have has some oxidation on it already i need to clean off.

There are a lot of threads on this. You're best off leaving the oxidized layer on the pot.

Actually, you want an oxidized layer when working with an aluminum pot. Check out the metals appendix in Palmer's book for more details.
