Default Bottling temps?

I'm about to bottle my first batch after just over 4 weeks of fermenting and clarifying.

I keep seeing references to room temperature for bottle carbing.

Do I need to keep the bottles in my closet (65-68 ambient... but wife will be less pleased with beer back upstairs), or will they be fine in the basement (ambient 62 degrees, happier wife as they are out of the way)?

Thanks for the input.

It's fine, it just might take a bit longer.

The 3 weeks at 70 that we talk about is the average time and temp for most beer, the cooler the beer is below 70, the slower it will take.

Awesome, thanks. This is what I was figuring, but I wanted experienced voices to confirm.

Now, to weigh spousal happiness against a few more days of carb time. Hmm. Maybe I'll put a couple in my sock drawer, and keep the rest in the basement. Best of both worlds!
