Default Boiled my grains! Help!

So I'm a total noob and am doing my first brew right now, following a midwest kit instructions. I misread the instructions and boiled my grains for 3 minutes before realizing I was supposed to steep, not boil. I removed from the burner and added ice to get my temp to 155 within 10 min.

Should I just give up and go get new grains and start over? Or should I continue and add my LME?

Thanks!

Taste them. Do they taste astringent?

If they do then I'd be wary of using them.
If they taste okay then I'd go for it.

At just 3 minutes it probably isn't the end of the world. Do they taste bitter or astringent? Especially since you're talking just some specialty grains and it wasn't 10 pounds of base grains or anything it could have been worse. You may have extracted some tannins from the brief hot temps but probably not worth abandoning them. The beer should come out fine and you can chalk it up as a lesson learned for next time

Yeah, they taste ok, like a tea. Certainly not bad.

I'm going for it,

Thanks!
