Hopefully it comes out great! I'd like to know how it turns out for you. If it's good, I might try it as my first lager when I have a bit more experience behind me. I like SA black lager myself, it'd be great to be able to brew it or something close to it. Best of luck.

EDIT: I just edited the post with the recipe, be sure to read it before brewing. The temperature for fermenting and aging seem a bit too high for lager so adjust accordingly. If someone more experienced could add their insight to this I will make the need corrections to the post.

Sorry to resurrect such an old thread, but I found this one through Google. I am looking for a Samuel Adams Black Lager extract clone. Did anyone ever end up brewing this? Was it close? Is there some other link to the clone that I am missing?

Looks like a good recipe. I was thinking about brewing this for my dad since he likes the Sam version a lot. I lack complete temp control, but i can handle the 68F fermentation, but when it comes to aging could it work at room temp or would a fridge (most likely under 52F) be better?
