Default Big sack o grain husk

I purchased my first sack of 2 Row a few months ago from the LHBS and noticed right after I got it home that it was about 40% grain husk. Being a newbie, it took me a while to realize my sack of grain wasn't up to scratch. It took numerous lower yield batches to figure it out. I eventually hauled it back to the store and they told me it must be an 'end of run' bag. Lucky for me they agreed to switch it out for another bag.

A word to the wise... check your bag before heading home with it. If they won't let you open the bag to check the contents, compare it with other sacks. A good one should be densely packed. My husk filled sack was visibly oversized and pillowy when compared with the good ones.

interesting! I just bought my first 55 pound bag of 2 row a couple weeks ago and had no idea what to look for or what it really looked like in the bag to be honest. Glad to hear it worked out though

No, unfortunately i didn't get a pic before returning. Basically the entire top layer was loose husk and there was a lot of it even when i dug down. A small amount of husk is expected, but my new sack by comparison has almost none at all. Grains are all clean and intact with little to no dust.
