Default Apfelwein Yeast question?

So followed the recipe and when it came time to add the yeast I poured it into the carboy through the funnel. I used the remaining gallon of apple juice to wash the yeast down into the carboy. My question is, I normally with dry yeast just sprinkle it on top, and let it work, this time when I added the extra liquid it made the yeast drop to the bottom of the carboy. Will the yeast sitting on the bottom effect anything with the impending fermentation??

When they goto work, they should move into suspension.

You'll be fine. I rehydrated mine. Just bottled it last night. It's delicious. I might try it again with no added sugar. See how it comes out, not as dry.

I noticed when I pitched mine, the yeast kinda went half way down and sat in the middle of the juice for the first little bit. It was kinda weird, like there was an invisible shelf in the middle of my carboy. 1 month later and its getting really clear now.

When did fermentation start for you guys? I'll be checking mine in about 4 hr. It will have been about 15 hr. Since pitching so hopefully it will be going by then and I can ease my worries.

When I added my yeast it didn't want to get washed into the liquid and some was floating around dry on top. So I shook the hell out of it til it all got wet

A day or two later fermentation started. I made it all last Thursday and even last night it was still fermenting pretty heavily. It was finally just starting to slow up last night, but definitely going pretty hard.

I have mine sitting behind the kitchen bar area. I'll be in there washing dishes and forget it's back there, then be like "what's that weird bubbling sound?"

I look forward to trying it out (in April).

my fermentation seemed to take quite a while, but I also dumped in my apple juice after it had sat overnight in my garage. It was prolly a little on the cold side when I pitched my yeast. But after a few days it was bubbling along fine, with just the small bubbles that are shown in EdWorts thread.

I really wanna bottle this stuff, but may be getting a kegging setup in the next week or so, so I am holding off.
