Default Another Secondary Fermentation Question... Adding some priming sugar

First post,
I'm relatively new to brewing, my 5th batch, and Im planning on racking tonight. I'm doing a secondary for the first time. I'm doing a relatively hoppy IPA. The guy at the brew shop recommended I add a few oz of priming sugar to the carboy to create some positive CO2 pressure and ensure it doesn't oxidize. I've looked around and haven't seen anyone else mention doing this. Anyone have experience with this? I will also be dry hopping with 1oz. of pellets.

I assume I should boil the priming sugar in equal parts water first.

I can see where he's coming from however I've never heard of anyone doing that. I think you'll be fine leaving it out.

He's wacky. Although it wouldn't hurt anything, there is no need to do this. When you rack to secondary, the CO2 already in the beer will purge the oxygen out of the secondary. This will create a nice layer of CO2 over your beer and not oxidize it.
