Default Another alcoholic root beer thread

Here's a thought.
What if you were to use root beer extract and sugar (or some other fermentable) like you normally would, but then used some other non-fermentable sweetener, like lactose or Splenda? Is there any reason that this couldn't produce a decent tasting alcoholic root beer?

Not sure. I've muddled around with a root beer Brown ale recipe, but not alcoholic root beer. I'd be careful with splenda. I'm pretty sure artificial sweeteners like splenda giv you diarrhea in high enough quantities.

It will make an alcoholic root beer. Whether it will be decent tasting is hard to say. Give it a try and see what happens.
