That's my bet. The sugar may not have been distributed evenly throughout the beer. Also, did you add the corn sugar dry or boil it up with some water first? If you do that, it not only helps sanitize the sugar but the liquid will be easier to mix with the beer. You can put it in the bottling bucket first then rack onto it-- no stirring necessary for it to mix well.
Also, you didn't waste anybody's time with a question about beer!
