Default Agitating fermentor during primary stage?

Does anyone do this to stir it up during the fermentation stage? Just curious.

It's not really necessary unless it seems like the fermentation is stuck. Sometimes with really vigerous fermentations the yeast can 'beach' themselves on the top of a carboy, but it's not usual.

Since one factor in attenuation is when the yeast flocculates, it isn't done most of the time.

as stated, you only wanna do this, GENTLY, if fermentation appears to get stuck. gently stir or swirl the fermenter to resuspend yeast.

if you shake it you add air, which means oxidation, which yields stale beer flavors pretty quickly (but not instantly)
