Default 59% Brewhouse efficiency....

This is starting to become a trend here. Single 10 gallon Rubbermaid mashtun, batch sparge ... always 59%! Argggghhhh. I even had the LHBS run the grain through the mill 2x. It has to be the grain. I am hitting all of my other targets spot on. 6.5 gallon boil, 5-5.25 after cooled. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks.

Could be crush, when mashing do you stir at least once? When you are ready to collect first runnings do you stir like hell first and then vorleuf? When you sparge do you stir like hell again to knock the sugars loose? You need to stir and stir and stir like you mean it, if not efficiency suffers

Are you meeting you pre boil gravity? Are you properly calculating recipes for your efficiency? Are you leaving a lot of wort behind in the tun?

Are you checking your mash pH? Getting proper conversion, iodine test?

Using software and is it set up properly? Lots of variables.....

brewhouse and mash eff are not the same

brewhouse eff = is how eff you are from mash to fermenter

mash eff = how effective your mash conversion was

what was your mash eff
