4 gallons of beer in 5 gallon carboy?
I racked my first beer to a secondary carboy a couple of days ago and it didn't quite fill the secondary up. It is about 4 gallons of beer which leaves extra headspace in the carboy. Should I worry about this?

no need to worry, racking will have cause some CO2 to be released, and it is sitting on the top of your beer like a blanket, protecting it from oxidation.
If you are really worried, you can get one of those gizzmos that wineshops sell to put CO2 into the carboy and purge the airspace. |
Nope, don't worry at all. Your beer will still give off some CO2 which will provide a protective layer over it. RDWHAHB.

Nope. But do you know where your fifth gallon is?

Thanks for the answers. I think I took extra large samples when I checked the FG. :mug:
