Don't get me wrong, these beers are well made, the taste of this recipe just not bag.
Yup same feeling here, after tasting Bigfoot, I was terribly disappointed in mine.
More, more, more hops!

M. Much thinner than I'd expected of a BW, drier

O good though not as much malt/sweet as I'd like from a BW

I'm going to try the other bottle sometime and re-review, seeing the other reviews from this BW make me think I may have gotten an off bottle.
Hmm, did you not taste the smoke at all? Can you remember if it had a plain golden cap with "999" written on it?

Yeah I was surprised as well that I didn't get any smoke aroma or flavor, as I said I'm going to get the other bottle and try it and re-do the review.

Conpewter's Pale Ale and Oatmeal Stout as reviewed by mmb and SWMBO

PA
Aroma: moderate hop aroma with slight fruit note (apricot?) 11/12
Appearance: pours yellow/gold, slight white head that dissipates to light ring of foam 3/3
Flavor: trending towards hoppy, slight background malt, clean 14/30
Mouthfeel: light carb, thin body, slight astringency in aftertaste 4/5
Overall: decent PA, finished sample, maybe mash a little warmer for more body. 7/10

SWMBO Review: clean, good flavor, light but not wimpy, 7 or 8 out of 10

"one of those beers that makes me want to drink another"

Oatmeal Stout:

Aroma: coffee/roasty slightly sweet aroma 10/12
Appearance: no head, thick black pour 2/3
Flavor: coffee, slight chocolate, smooth, clean finish 17/20
Mouthfeel: flat and a bit thin, silky 3/5
Overall: Little light in body, good roast level 6/10

SWMBO: good, clean, needs carb, 7 of 10

If I'm looking at this thread correctly, we're still missing a LOT of reviews here...I know it hasn't been that long, but lets not drag this out for months again...it's time to start thinking about 111111 right?

Barleywines are not something I drink a lot of. So it's going to take me some time to get thru all mine.

Add that to a very strict diet I'm on and I can not drink one of these until Saturday after I have done a 3 hour + workout.

How many people only recieved 2/3? I'm trying to figure out the rate of reviews here. We're over a month past the tasting date and by my calculations we have 26/96 reviews with 5 brewers completing their reviews for the Barleywines. I know things come up and lots of us are busy, but that's pretty bad. We've all known for the better part of 6 months we were going to taste these, and I'm glad that I got to taste the beers that I did, because I loved them all.
