Default weird off flavor

hm, I'm really new to extract brewing. I brewed just three extract batches... But still, I have some experience because I started with all grain and I have 25 all grain batches by now (which are better and better)...

In all my extract batches I have a weird off flavor. It's coca-cola kind of flavor. I know, coca-cola really doesn't have a strong flavor, but still... these batches reminds me on cola.

I have to say that I used only muntons kits, so maybe it's something specific to muntons....

have you ever had this, or something similar?

Where are you sourcing your extract from? Online or brick&mortar store? It could possibly be from old extract. However, I believe Munton's is a dry extract correct? I think an old liquid malt extract may contribute to off flavors more so than dry extract?

What specific recipes are you doing? Are you doing anything to change your water profile? Have you changed anything in your technique compared to the all grain brewing?

My local HBS sells the Muntons DME and their LME a few versions of each infact.

Maybe it's just the 'extract twang' that people refer to. I too get this taste in my extract brews, but I don't have a temperature controlled fermentation, so I think many of the off flavors could be contributed from that.
