If you don't have a recipe program like beersmith, get a trial version. 9lbs of extract and 1oz bittering may not give you what you want, most likely you will need a lot of it to be a late addition. Beersmith (or other program, i mention that one as its the one i have) will show you ibu's and bitterness ratios to get those hops dialed in.
dude, what's with all the exclamation points?

Whenever I make a recipe, I picture the beer I want to make. I think about how I want it to taste. I think about how each ingredient will complement whatever flavors I'm looking for.

How do four different bittering hops contribute to the flavors you're looking for? How about 3 different hops at 30, 20, 10, and 0 minutes? Why 4 different hops for dry hopping?

Sounds like a tasty beer to me. I see you changed your recipe. Nothing wrong with blending hops and experimenting. Personally I love Simcoe, Amarillo, and Chinook in a hoppy brew.

Today I popped open my Honey Brown Ale. Kind of like New Castle on Steroids! My friends and I really liked it! Right afterward I bottled my IPA and started my new recipe Lil Blonde Daddy Ale (my first Partial Mash) because I will be a new dad in less then 6 weeks to a baby girl! I stuck one bottle of the IPA in the fridge and after brewing the blonde I sampled the IPA for fun and WOW. It tasted wonderful! I cant wait for at least another 3 weeks to try it again! Good Stuff!

Hey Grasshopper, I couldn't PM you back, because you reached your limit. Might think about becoming a premium member *shameless plug*

Anyway, I was asking about how your brew came out, and you asked about my Arrogant Bastard clone. I just copied and pasted my response from the PM:

Right on, let me know when you take a sample I'm doing a double brew day tomorrow and doing the Chinook, Amarillo, Cascade combo. I'm excited to see how it comes out. The combo sounds delicious!

The Arrogant Bastard clone came out really good. I've never had the bastard, so I really don't have a frame of reference, but thats why I brewed it, because I can't get it! Also it just so happened, that right after I brewed mine, they posted the re-brew on Can You Brew It for the clone. It was still similar, but they swapped out the 10% of C-120 for 10% of Special B malt. Then they changed up the hop schedule slightly.

When I did mine, I hit my gravity a little higher than anticipated, and while I did compensate with more hops, I still didn't quite hit as high IBUs as I should have. I hit about 1.081, but only got about 70 IBUs, and I used whole hops, so I might have gotten a little less utilization than that. However, the beer came out pretty damn good!

I hit almost 9%! I also fermented on the high side, so it really has a big malty, almost syrupy flavor to it, but its rounded out by a nice citrus/pine/spice punch! I'm digging it, and its VERY young still, so I'm interested to see how it is in the following weeks.

I also dry hopped it with another 2 oz of Chinook too, so that really added some complexity to it. I think those hops may even be the syrupy taste I'm getting from it. Not sure. Like I said I haven't had the bastard, and don't have much experience with Chinook. I split a 10 gallon batch, into 2x5g carboys, so I dry hopped the other one with Simcoe/Amarillo That is still bottle conditioning, so I haven't tried that yet.

Cheers!

after a few beers today, its Friday, for some reason I threw one of my recently bottled IPAs in the fridge to chill, and a friend and I sampled it. It was very good, and better than 2 store bought IPAs we just had!

Well speaking of trying beer early(I guess its been 2 weeks, but with a 1.082 SG) I'm drinking my Simcoe/Amarillo dry-hopped AB Clone. Its very good! A little more fruit to the citrus flavor. Still very malty and a BIG mouthfeel and taste. Good stuff. Looking forward to brewing some more good hoppy brews tomorrow! Good to hear the combo came out good for you. If its good now, it can only get better from here!
