Default Pumpkin Ale?

Can you just use pumpkin pie spice to make a pumpkin ale? If so how much. Base recipe is slightly hopped blonde ale. Thanks for any help.

I would use real pumpkin or you will end up with a spiced blonde and no pumpkin flavor.

Ditto on using some pumpkin.

I made a partial mash pumpkin ale recently and the pumpkin does add flavor.

I used a teaspoon of spice at flameout and another 3/4 teaspooon in the fermentor after a week.

Just stole a sample from my pumpkin ale last night & was delicious. Huge pumpkin pie & graham crust flavor. I steeped 4# of pumpkin puree in a 10 gallon batch for the last 5 minutes of the boil. Used a BIAB sack to do this. Cheap & easy.
