Default Propper priming solution for an english ale ??

Making an English ale from an extract kit put together to be similar
Ar to northern brewers innkeeper ale.. I will be ready to tootle next week and was wondering of anyone coulD steer me in the right direction as far as the proper priming ingredients for this ale. I made a 5 gallon batch...

Um...5 gallon batch I would go with 3 oz of corn sugar dissolved in 1 cup of water. If you want something carbed closer to an apa go with 4 to 4.5 oz. There are plenty of calculators available to dial in your Carb levels.

Is there a specific type of primer that would be used in a " true" English ale... I don't want to over sweeten the ale... Any idea what the traditional primer that would be used??

Corn sugar is 100% fermentable. The yeast will turn all sugar into alcohol leaving no sweetness behind. And the alcohol added is pretty nominal. You won't notice.
