Default Nottingham Yeast for American Ale

I plan to brew Jamil's West Coast Blaster, which he classifies as a California Red Ale and which utilizes American hops. I plan to use Nottingham Ale yeast, as I think that will handle my cool basement temps better than US-05. Will the Notty alter the beer significantly from what I would get from US-05?

From what I've read, they are similar yeasts. Both are beasts and quick.

It'll be fine. I have used Notty in Stouts, IPAs and BIPA's with good results. It is fast, and attenuates very well.

No problem with using Notty. It's more expensive than it used to be but the packaging has improved as well as increased consistency.

I'm sure it'll be great with Notty. I used 1272 for that recipe, but only cuz I use 1272 in almost all my American styles. It's a great recipe and the hops and caramel malts are what stands out, so a neutral yeast like Notty will make a great beer!
