Default my "last" extract batch gravity notes

so, this is my "last" extract batch because i plan on going AG for my next one in about 3 weeks.

i wanted to practice by doing a "partial mash" with the kit's specialty (and some extra) grains. had about 2 lbs of grain and let that sit in my boil kettle for an hour at 153deg. my 4-5 gal kettle actually only lost about a degree over the hour. then i placed the grain on a strainer and slowly "sparged" it with 1 gallon 160deg water.

my point is, the kit's OG was printed to be 1060-1062. when all was said and done, i got an OG of 1072 before pitching my yeast. i was pleasantly surprised and figured it was from my mock-mash/sparge last night.

interesting to say the least.
