Default Muntons vs Midwest

I have used the Midwest kits before and I like them a lot. However they cost $18 to ship. My local guy has Coopers ( I like them too) and Muntons.
I have two questions
  1. How are the Muntons compared to Midwest
  2. Do you think
my local guy can make me a copy of the Midwest?

Midwest kits are def better. And they list the ingredients for each one. copy that & see what your lhbs will charge for the same ingredients. Simple as that.

Many of the Midwest kits contain liquid malt extract and they go through a lot of it so it is fresh. Your local store's liquid malt extract may not be as fresh so have them substitute the appropriate amount of dry. The dry malt extract will cost a bit more but doesn't degrade like the liquid can. I've just made up a batch from one of Midwest's recipes. I had done this recipe from one of their kits and liked it so I didn't feel bad about lifting the recipe especially since I had bought the ingredients from them.
