Default Looking to spice up an Irish Stout

Looking to brew up an Irish Stout this weekend, but want to deviate a bit from the box recipe to add some deliciousness. I was thinking of maybe adding some seeped coffee or perhaps maple cubes (all suggestions from friends), however, I don't have much experience with "outside the recipe" brewing.

Here's the ingredients

12 oz Caramel 60L
4 oz roasted barley
4 oz black patent

3.3 Dark LME
2.0 Dark DME
.5 Maltodextrin
Cascade aroma and bittering hops (.5 oz and 1 oz respectively)

Any suggestions, hints, help would be much appreciated.

If you like IPAs I'd suggest tweaking the flavor/aroma hops a bit to make a black IPA.

Maybe add .5 oz for flavor during the boil at 30-mins and 15-mins. Then dry hop with .5 to 1.0 oz for 7-days after primary fermentation is complete.

I love IPA's.... Never really thought of that. Any suggestions for some good flavor hops? or dry hops?

Maybe use Victory Yakima Glory as an example for some ideas on which hops to use. I had this "Dark IPA" the other day and I was instantly hooked. It's an amazing beer.
