Default IIPA today

Going to attempt at making a IIPA. The question I have is: can I use Muntons or Coopers powdered yeast to ferment 2.5 gallons of beer with an OG around 1.100?? I thought I read somewhere that anything above 1.070 should use a strong yeast.

If I were to use dry yeast on a beer this strong I wouldn't trust it to anything but properly re-hydrated Safale-05 or Nottingham for an American beer. I do have a packet of Munton's in the fridge, but it's only for extreme emergency purposes.

Coopers yeast is a good bet.

US-05 (Safale) is a great yeast for an IIPA. It ferments out well enough to drop a really high gravity brew. When I do beers at 1.100 or over I generally make a more moderate beer first, use nottingham or US-05 and then when that is finished I'll brew the big beer, keg the moderate one and put the wort right on the yeast cake. This makes sure I have plenty of yeast to finish the job.
