Default ice, ice baby

I brewed my 3rd today a brown ale extract and decided to try the icing technique. MAN O MAN, that was a quick ride to 60F. It was there before i had the 1 1/2 wort poured. I froze 2 gal. last night and cut them open and added to ferm. about 15 min. before boil time was up. I scooped the big chunks of ice out and then topped off.

pretty happy with the session, 1st time on my new turkey fryer (WOW, better than electric for 40$)

my OG was off though, according to beersmith of 1.045 target.
I came out at 1.034, so a little low
will it make that much of a diff?

had good color and taste, well see..

mike

That's a big difference - did you adjust for temp?

Yeah...that is way low...probably looking at about a 3% alc brew. But hey it will probably still be good. I had a wit that I messes up come out just about the same and it still tasted fine.

did you mix the wort and added ice/water well? You may have gotten more water than wort in the hydrometer sample
