Default Hops mixup?

I was just looking at my Midwest Night Cap Cherry Stout kit that I received a week ago, and instead of 1oz Fuggle bittering hops and 1/2 oz Willamette aroma hops I called for on the recipe, I have 1 oz glacier pellet hops and 1 oz german tradition hops.

The second amount is close to the quantity listed on the side of the box, except it says 1/2 oz glacier.

This leads me to believe that Im supposed to use the german tradition hops as the bittering hops, and only 1/2 the amount of glacier hops....

input?? itd be very helpful as Id like to get this one underway!!

Thanks in advance!

You are probably correct. I know some of the beer kits I've gotten in the last 6 months have had substitute hops. In some case they did not change the names on the instructions sheet. If you have any doubt, smell the hops. I would imagine the ones with the more pleasing aroma are intended for the aroma addition. I'm just guessing, but I would imagine that the higher alpha acid hops are going to be the bittering hops.

Glacier is a great sub for Fuggle. I've got an English IPA dry hopping right now with EK Gold and Glacier and it smells lovely. Id use the tradition for bittering for sure, they're supposed to be a higher alpha Hallertauer sub. Also I'd use the whole ounce Glacier. Stouts with Fuggle/Willamette/Glacier aroma are dreamy.

Maybe they had to substitute the "original" hops with what was available when the kit was boxed? The amount may have been adjusted due to AA% differences.
