Default Fun little brew session

After seeing the responses to Edwort's Apfelwein. I just had to make a batch. And then another. Now my brew closet is getting a bit full.

From left to right: Caramel Vanilla Ale (Cheesefood's recipe), Golden Ale (My first original recipe), and the Apfelwein (Edwort's recipe). This doesn't show the fourth brew that's in there now.

Of course, since the Apfelwein was so quick (10 minutes), I just had to brew some more.

Godfishead 60 Minute (Yooper's recipe with a few tweaks):

1lb Crystal 40L (50 minute steep at 153 degrees)
1lb Pale LME (60min)
8lb Pale LME (Dry/Flame-out)
.75oz Nugget leaf hops 14.6% AA (Continuous, 60min -> 35min)
.5oz Simcoe pellet hops 11.7% AA (Continuous, 35min -> 15min)
.75oz Amarillo leaf hops 9.3% AA (Continuous, 35min -> 15min)
2tsp Irish Moss (15min)
Pacman yeast (Harvested from Rouge Mocha Porter)

OG: 1.065

Dry hop at 3 days before bottling:
.5oz Simcoe pellet hops 11.7% AA
1oz Amarillo leaf hops 9.3% AA

Tentative primer: 3/4cup DME

My setup for this brew:

Grain steeping:

I'm shooting for about 42-45 IBUs. This was my first time doing the continuous hopping method, so I'm not totally sure what my utilization will be. Even the yeast I'm not terribly sure of. This is the second strain of yeast I've harvested, but the first one to be used. I suppose it may end up being a tasty infection.

I did a double brew day myself, my first, I'm exhausted!

That DFH 60 minute clone sounds wonderful. I may have to try it sometime, it's one of my favorite beers. Let me know how it turns out.

Default Oof...

That Apfelwein sure does give off some strong fermentation gas. I don't think it smells like sewage though. More like rotten apples. I can't believe I'm anxiously awaiting some spoiled apple juice!

Have yet to do two brews in one day, but with two empty primaries and two weeks off....I think it'll happen here soon.

What better way to finish off my first 100 gallon year?
