Extract Kit - Good Deal - Sort of

Went to the local brew store and was looking at getting another kit, I picked on up Belgium Saison kit and the candi syrup appeared to have leaked a bit. The owner said I could have the kit for $10. he said the the candi syrup was still good but I would have to add some honey to make it a full pound.

Question - should I just order the L5 golden candi syrup or go with the honey?

Just use plain table sugar. That is pretty much what light candi sugar is. Dark candi sugar adds some flavor, but the light is just there to help dry the beer out.

I wouldn't use honey. It may add some unwanted flavors.

Sounds like you got a good deal.

Yeah, light candi sugar doesn't have too much of a purpose. I just use sucrose in my light Belgian ales now.
