Wheat beer help
Hey all,
I was wondering if anyone could give me some ideas for a clone/rough imitation of Rogue's Mo's Half-E-Weizen / Mom's Hefeweizen. For those unfamiliar, it's a wit style, no real flavor of banana or clove (which is why I love this one), but plenty of coriander and ginger and a hint of fruitiness. It uses Saaz for bittering, though I would be willing to branch out here, even to make it /slightly/ hoppier. I am a partial-extract, kitchen brewer for the moment. I can do about a 3 gallon boil and keep temperatures pretty stable, but I've never done a wheat beer before. My main question is what sorts of ingredients should I use? Wheat malt? Some Light DME (or not)? Flaked wheat or oats? What else? Thanks for your help! -Clint |
Pick up a wit kit and the put some ginger in it around 5 minutes left in the boil. Pick up some Saaz hops and use those for your bittering charge. Use a wit beer yeast. hope this helps.
