Clould someone explain the difference between "mash temp" and "grain temp"?
The grain temp is before you blend them with your brewing liquor, mash temp is after.
So, is that like, if my grains are in the basement and it is 63 degrees down there, I can assume my grain is about that temp?
and it matters because adding grains will lower the water temp(aka mash temp once they are mixed) for most beers my water temp is 13.5 deg F higher then my target mast temp. once I add the grains and stir the temp lowers and hits my mash temp.
