Default Using roast for stouts

I made an all grain stout yesterday. I had enough grain to give me a 5 gallon batch of 1.050 wort. I did not have enough sparge water, and left some of the sugar behind in the grains. I ended up with about 3.5 gallons of 1.050 wort instead of 5 gallons. I was in a hurry and just thought to myself ok no big deal I will just make a three gallon batch. After I pitched the yeast I began to wonder about it being to roasty. I use 1 pound of roast for my 5 gallon batches. So since I had 1 pound of roast and only made 3 gallons do you think it will be to roasty? Thanks

I think it will be fine...what's important is the percentage of your grist that the roasted grain makes up.

Sorry, your stout is toast, burnt toast at that. More likely, in two months you'll be asking yourself, "How can I duplicate this mistake?"
