Default Use of gypsum in PM

So my recipe calls for gypsum, and it is a PM with 3.5 lbs of grain. Do I need to add the gypsum to the PM water, or to the final wort after I add the LME?

I wouldn't add it at all unless your recipe comes from someone who shares your water source. Gypsum is used to adjust the alkalinity of the mash water and add calcium. Unless you know that your water needs those things, leave it out.

I've PM'ed with gypsum for an IPA. I always used bottled spring water though. I added it to the mash and sparge water...
