One thing that I am considering changing.... I have a colander to use over my lauder tun to sprinkle the water over the grainbed..... the water just flows through the bottom.... Wonder if I should plug these somehow so the water rises and comes out of the holes in the sides? Whatcha think? 'Nother link to pic below....

This is version 3 of the system... Originally I had a wood stand set up, then used the slotted angle to build a 3 tier. Wouldn't fit in my garage, so I splurged for the pump. Link to pic of version one is below. Never took pics of version Two. I never brewed with either previous versions.... Planning on starting a batch with this one the weekend after next.

You built 3 different stands before ever brewing on them?!?

Anyway, it looks like you've got a nice system now. I don't know if your colander sprinkler is doing anything for you, but it's probably not hurting either.

Let us know how the first brew session goes with you system.

Yep.... Built the first one of wood. Thinking that I could take the small stand off of the large one and the large would do double duty as a workbench in my garage. Once it was built, I had to drag the whole shebang into the garage. Once I did that, I realized that brewing would not be a pleasure if I had to do that everytime to brew.

Second one was a 3 tier, made of the slotted angle. Had to lay it down so it would fit in the garage. I was trying to avoid having to purchase a pump. Once it was built, realised that it, too, was a pain in the a$$. So, I dismantled it.

Then, took a break from it. Met my wife online, went to the Philippines to meet her, did all the immigration stuff to bring her back, went back and brought her here, married, and have our baby daughter.

Finally decided this year to go ahead and build the 2 tier, buy a pump and put castor wheels on it so it comes in and out the garage easily. I'm stubborn, but eventually I learn.

So, now I am on the hunt for a fairly simple recipe for my first batch.... Maybe a brown ale. I'll let you know how it comes out
