Default Sub for malted oats

I am planning to brew a clone of Tripel Karmelite. However it reportedly uses malted and unmalted oats, and my LHBS does not carry malted oats. They do carry flaked oats.

Should I replace the malted oat with more flaked oats, or with more base malt, or any other thoughts? Thanks

JG

not really, their contribution to the flavour of certain speciality ales is significant. You may just have to order them online. I know Northernbrewer.com carries them. But you could give it a try and see how it turns out.
