Default Spent Grain

Hi guys,

I have done 3 AG recipes. After the mash, I check the spent grain - every time there has been lots of white particles (I'm guessing unconverted starch) in and around the husks, and my efficiency is pretty low - 60% -65%.

I aksed my local HBS about the grind and he seemed to think it was ok, but next time I will mill to a finer grind.

After mashing, should there be no visible starch left?

Cheers,

Can you take a pic and post it if it happens again? Might make for a good visual for teaching.
