Default Should I add some DME to raise gravity

I brewed a Franziskaner clone yesterday and my gravity was much lower then expected. Around 1.034 I was shooting for around 1.050 ish. I figured it was probably a problem with my spargeing. I know i messed it up, But I was wondering if it would be worth it to boil up some light dme and add it to try and raise the gravity or should I just let it be.

Any help would be greatly appreciated

I'd boil up some DME (in as little water as possible as to not dilute the brew further) and add it, if it was my beer.

Definitely add some DME in there. 1.034 is a long way off from 1.050

I would add the dme.

What I have started doing is including a "Beer Math" section in my brewday checklist. I check my gravity before I move wort to boil. This way I know exactly how much DME to add to meet my expected gravity.

Formula is:
Target Gravity (TG) = (Pre Boil Volume) x (Target Gravity)
Mash Gravity (MG) = (Pre Boil Volume x (Measured Gravity)

(Target Gravity) – (Measured Gravity)/45 DME or 38 LME = LBs to Add

Thanks for the advise, I added the dme and its chugging along. When it's done I'll check in and let you all know how it turned out
