Default Robust Vanilla Porter color question.

I made a robust vanilla porter currently in primary fermentation finishing up with a few days to go. I hit my pre boil and O.G. Numbers but the porter looks light in color. The recipe calls for an SRM of 25 and I'm currently at about a 18-20 (at best) my question is will adding my vanilla beans in the secondary hep to darken up the brew?

Probably not... How are you judging the color of the brew? IF in a hydrometer tube, don't... You need to have a full glass (pint) in order to judge the actual color.

Judging color just by what I see in my glass carboy. I did take a reading after a week and everything is right on track.

Wait until it's actually in a glass to be consumed before you judge the color of it.

I think you are missing an ingredient because that doesn't sound like it could be much darker than a light amber color.

I have to agree there... Entering it into BeerSmith the color is under 7 SRM...
