I need some input, having never constructed my own recipe:
I've just found out that I will be able to borrow a 5 gal. keg and I want to brew a beer for my wedding in April. I want something similar to Stone's 15th anniversary Black IPA.
Here's what I'm thinking so far:
10-12 lb American 2 Row
2 lb Crystal 90
2 lb Victory
1 lb Chocolate (maybe Black Patent instead?)
Chinook for bittering, Cascade for aroma:
90 minute boil.
1.0 oz Chinnok at 60/45/30 min
1.0 oz Cascade at 15min, perhaps another 1.0 oz at 5 min?
Probably use WLP-001 California Ale.
With 70% efficiency on Beer Calculus, assuming a 5 gal boil, I get the following:
What do you guys think?
Here's a link to a thread that discusses that recipe, including a breakdown of it from Stone.
Going to read this thread.
