Made a pumpkin ale yesterday. Smells great. My efficiency though was really low, like 55% (that's giving the pumpkin a potentially gravity of 1.010 per gal). I mashed the pumpkin and my sparge almost stuck a couple of times. In retrospect I think I should have used more sparge water but I followed the recommended amount form beersmith.
So instead of a 8.5% pumpkin beer it will be 6.5% (or so).
OG was 1.064 was supposed to be 1.089.
