Default pH readings

what do you guys use to take your pH readings of the mash? I have an old kit that covers the entire range, however I can only assume that since brewers deal with a narrower scale, there might be something that is better. If a simple pH strip kit with color coding is accurate enough, what range might I look for?

Thanks!

I use those goofy strips that barely work . . . and the magic 5.2 stuff.

My well water pH is 5.7, so I just assume.
