I have decided to make the leap from extract to all grain. My extract beers are coming out drinkable, but I can't seem to get rid of the extract twang. I recently moved to full boils and that did not help. Although, the beer I am drinking now is better as it as aged a little more. Anyway, I am trying to build a mash tun and I am having some issues. Any help would be appreciated.

I am getting leaks in my setup. I know why, see TheProblem picture below. I just don't know how to fix it.

Here are some pictures of what I am dealing with.

Here are all the parts:

Here is the cooler taken apart:

I knew it would not be as easy as every says to I started drinking a little early.

This picture is what is causing me to have leaks. Any ideas on how to stop this from happening? The problem:

Any help or advice you can give would be greatly appreciated.

I am doing this from memory, but it looks like you have your "cooler gasket" backwards. You want the larger flange of that included piece to be on the inside. That is of course with me assuming that you are putting that barb piece on the inside of the cooler.

I am wondering if I need to have a washer on the inside of the cooler to keep the gaskets from roling up onto the barb piece. I have tried it with the big white washer turned around and I still get leaks.

I ran to lowes and got me a SS washer to put on the inside. The damn thing still leaks? Any ideas? I am going to try puting another o-ring on the inside and see what happens with that.

It appeaers from the pic that the seal is getting pushed into the hole. This could be from heat or more than likely over torquing. First try lubing the seal so it doesn't twist as you tighten the nut. If this doesnt work get a sheet of silicone and make a gasket from this. A couple good sources that might work are a baby bottle nipple with the nipple cut off or a silicone baking sheet that can be found at walmart.

I think I finally got it. I tried this first, and the seal did not work

Then I tried the following, and 8 minutes into a six gallon hot water test it seems to be hold. No leaks.

Hope the images show up.

Thanks for all the input.

Also could use what I do on both my HTL and MLT i just remove the white rubber piece that comes stock and use a silicon washer i've never had a leak with it, oh there is also the ss washer in there too.
