there was a thread about it on here a while back. I think the concensus was that mashing would be cool in a pumpkin, but sanitization during ferment would pose a huge problem.

This is the second thread of the day about it.

http://www.homebrewtalk.com/f14/how-someone-really-makes-pumpkin-ale-142898/

And about the 4th time this year. This is one of these viral things that some media outlet picks up every year and then everyone decides they should post it...kinda like the beer christmas trees.....but since many folks here are on brewery mailing lists and all manner of inside brewing sites, before it hits the public feeds, it's already been seen and commented on.

Inevitably we've seen the original source material that the reporter or blogger who is convering the story has seen. Like the original press release.

But on Here we've actually had a couple guys on here actually ferment in one a couple years back.

wow it shows you how people will take a way of making beer to the extreme.
Thanks revy for posting that link to fermenting in a pumpkin...I was very curious on how it would turn out...To bad it ended infected.

+1 to not fermenting in a pumpkin unless you want to risk loosing a batch of beer.

But still very cool!!
