I did my first All Grain recipe this weekend and much to my wife's dismay, it did not curb my addiction to brewing! Although, I did run into a problem that I would like some suggestions for in the future. I'm pretty sure that I know why my OG was low. I had a half a$$ed design for a false bottom for my Mash/Lauter Tun. But thanks to FlyGuy, I know where I went wrong in my design. Thanks for that great post FlyGuy!
My question is this: I've heard of just adding some DME to your wort to bring the OG up to where it needs to be. But how much should I have added? Is there a formula that I could keep on had to figure that out?
