Default Leaves in the boil

Brewed outside on this lovely day and I made the mistake of leaving the brew pot for two minutes.

When I returned there were two good size leaves that blew into the pot. I tried to scoop them out but they were already like liquid. So I basically had two leaves disolve in the boil.

Is this going to have any affect on the beer? It boiled about 30 minutes after the leaves fell in.

I'm guessing this won't be a problem but I'm just hoping it won't add a bad taste to the brew.

What do you think?

What kind of leaves were they? I'd worry less about affecting the taste and more about the fact that you'll be ingesting leaves from a random plant in the neighborhood. Not all plants are edible and some could make you sick.

Don't worry about it. I just brewed a 6 Legged Blonde today. Couldn't get the damn cricket out of the boil pot.

Damn really?? I figured since they boiled so long, they would be fine. I have no idea what kind of leaves they were. I would think that two leaves in 5 gallons would be alright.

Now you've got me wondering.

If they were say... poison oak... I don't know if I'd want 2 leaves in 10 gallons. heh

I don't think I have any poison oak near the front of my house and I think the odds are small that those would be the two leaves that blew over from someone elses yard but it's making me wonder a little.

I'd like to get a few more opinions on this. Do you really think this could be a dangerous situation?? This must have happened to others here before, right?

I don't want anyone to get sick but I certainly think the chances are slim that this will cause a problem.

If this were you, would you dump it or keep it???

I think you will be fine. It boiled. Most plants aren't harmful.

My money's on it not being horrible for whoever drinks it. If you can rake your leaves into a pile and jump into them without getting a rash, then there's a very slim chance that two leaves in your beer are going to hurt anything.

It's the bugs that laid their eggs on them before they fell in I'd worry about...
