Default Late Addition All Extract

Is it OK to add all extract at the end of the boil if partial mashing a good amount of base malts? My inquiring mind wants to know.

Easy question, right?

Go for it. The boil is for hop utilisation......This is what I heard here anyway.

I do it regularly with 4-5 lb partial mashes (3 gallon boil). Sometimes I'll add a cup or so of extract at the start but mostly what I boil is the mash wort. I do notice the difference in the hops utilization, which is mostly why I started doing it.

We did it with the two PMs we did before going AG. We were getting apprx half the extract from the mash and half from the DME late addition.

Yep, go for it! Makes the beer lighter in color, compared to a 60 minute boil of the same amount of extract.
