Default Keeping moisture at bay.

Other than trying to keep your grains in an air tight container in a cool, dry place, with the fluctuations of a Wisconsin winter/summer, how do you keep moisture out of your grain?

Those little packs from a bag of jerky? Can they be purchased?

Other thoughts?

The containers aren't cheap but IMHO the only way to go. Have a couple in the basement.

Yes you can buy silica gel packets online very inexpensively and they can be reused by microwaving out the water when damp. I'll find the ones I use for my camera gear and post them up.

I know you said "other than in an airtight container" but it's incredibly easy to just store them in lowes or home depot buckets. 2 buckets fit a bag of grain.

There's also Damp Rid. It's basically calcium Chloride. You can buy a big bag of it for about $2 from Home Depot. Works great.
