Default Irish moss for wiezen?

Joy of Homebrewing recipe has Irish moss in the boil. I'd think this wouldn't be necessary for a wiezen which is typically cloudy anyway. Thoughts? I'm brewing today.

I followed this recipe last Wednesday and wondered the same thing. I think the cloudiness in a weizen comes from the yeast, while irish moss helps with the coagulation of proteins during the boil, which is always desirable. I might be wrong, but I ended up using it.

Happy Brewing!

You don't need Irish Moss in a hefe...in fact in a German Hefe it's almost sacriligious.

The cloudiness in a wheat beer comes from the wheat, not the yeast.
